In our current global economic system (=capitalism), natural environments only have value once their destroyed and their resources are extracted. Examples: Logging, fishing, hunting, mining.

Not attributing value to the manifold services intact natural environments provide is a huge mistake and a major reason we're in the biodiversity & climate mess.

We need to make the value intact natural habitats provide through ecosystem services visible, measurable and tradeable. How? This we explore on this site.

"Ecosystem Services are the benefits that intact natural environments provide to humans."

The only way ecosystems have economic value...

... is by extracting raw materials, destroying them in the process...

... let's change that. We need to assign functional natural environments the value they deserve.

There are four broad categories of ecosystem services  - click on them to learn more!
